Mine is from Robert Anton Wilson, who wrote (among many other things) "The Cosmic Trilogy: Final Secret of the Illuminati." The series was somewhat historical research, but also somewhat satire. At the end, Wilson, who began his research as a skeptic, but in the end could no longer assert that the Illuminati did NOT exist, left it an open question. I do not remember the exact wording, but here's the essence:
"I have come to the conclusion that absolute belief or disbelief in anything represents brain death. Once you claim to believe or disbelieve in anything, you have closed your mind off to absorbing new information. If your brain cannot aborb new information, you are dead."
I have always tried to live up to that maxim.
