Can anybody tell me why just why it is that olive oil, even expensive olive oil always come in containers with such feeble leaky caps or seals? It's like even in this day and age since for years now they still go out of the way to make a flimsy cap that can't be tightened strongly enough before it strips its theadings and would even be considered a joke if were on a honey jar let alone a cheep softdrink or water bottle! >< Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

I was thinking it might be some old traditional thing. What brand are you using? I like Star Extra Virgin.

Rico! ~*( )*~ I am buying Bertolli Extra-Virgin, 1.5 Ltr/$18.49 It's pretty good, more flavorful than just about anything that's cheaper in that size, but it allso has plastic top that will slip. I usually pour some out into a smaller bottle to set on the stove along with the tamari sauce and the peanut or safflower oil and then put the rest in the bottom refrigerator door. I've heard that best is the Greek Olive Oil which is Extra-Extra Virgin. But like $60-$80 and up a gallon. >< Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

Bertolli is a pretty good brand. I'll check it out in the market, but I sorta remember a thin metal cap.
I'll bet you'd get an interesting response if you wrote to the manufacturer, though!

EVOO is the best quality. Bertolli is a standard supermarket oil. If you look in a gourmet shop you will usually find good oils that actually have corks in them. I stick with Italian olive oil but that is just a personal preference. Odd thing is I wont eat olives but I love olive oil.....go figure! hehe

Rico, DL, EVOO = Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and I've see the label somewhere before I'm sure, but there's a number of EVOO labels of that name. I even just saw one with Rachael Ray's picture on its label, Ooooo-Aaahhh. Blending down of olive oil with lesser OO and even that horrible canola or palm oil crap and additive colorings not approved for human consumption seems to be a particular problem. I've tried this and that OO over the last few years, this last oil was called Lucini 500ml, "100% Organic Hand-Picked, Estate-Grown Tuscan Olives, First Cold Press", and selling from around $14.00-$22.00 in stores. If it has all that hype on the label it has to be a scam. It had very little flavor, didn't do hardly anything more than canola for food and I just couldn't use it up soon enough. I've had a few other serious disappointments like that one too. Here's a link with some interesting comments about evoo: www.megnut.com/2007/09/olive-oil-was-the-most-adulterated-agricultural-product-in-the-european-unionDL, I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't love olives, but I also can't imagine you'd be welcome anywhere someone who didn't appreciate OO, you certainly couldn't go anywhere very nice that had real cuisine! Rico, good idea, I will try and write someone. BTW: What sort of junk foods do you like and what sort of things do you make the most, and should Stake & Shake be required to make malts too? >< Tomasina ChicaWolverina!
