I'm at the point of believing that Bush will order an air attack against Iran immediately following the November 4th election. He could do it in October, prior to the election so as to bolster support for McCain, but it would probably backfire since there is little public support for such a move and would probably drive oil prices way up. So, if he's to do it, it will probably be during the 2 months following the election so as to leave his successor to clean up the mess. An alternative might be to quietly urge Israel to launch an air attack during the 2-month window.
As a lame duck with no political future, Bush may be at his most dangerous during the period between November 4th and January 21st. He knows he's hated, so he has nothing to lose. His fondest wish is that at some future point, history will exonerate him and even praise him.
He needs to slink quietly into public oblivion.

Yeah well... Never underestimate the Iranians in their ability in manipulating the media here and the president of the United States, and knowing this we are screwed as much as the average Joey in Iran is now. Probably worse, and it's going to happen very soon. >< Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

::: places Carnac the Magnificent hat on head :::
I predict that if there is going to be any sort of attack at all, it will occur within the next six weeks, during the dog days of summer.
I also predict that gas prices will begin plummeting after the Labor Day weekend. No good Republican office holder wants to explain the price of $5 per gallon fuel as the voters are about to go into the booths. The price will roll back -- inexplicably -- to about $3 a gallon just before Judgment Day.

Interesting...gas prices have always dropped after Labor Day with a rare exception last year. So, it would be natural for them to drop just a bit. Yes, a drop could help Republicans for whatever reason. I'm not sure how it could be done, because the important thing is that you have to do something to convince the speculators to go into a panic selling mode.
I don't agree that an attack would come soon, though, Chernobyl. It would be the case if Bush had public support, but an attack now would hurt McCain's chances. After the election Bush won't care, other than about his place in history.

I prognosticated that if there was going to be any attack at all -- it would have occured before September 1st. The price of gas? Gas is selling for $2.50 a gallon around the corner from where I live. It is certainly a whole lot better than the $3.00 a gallon I predicted, but I failed to see the stock market crash looking through the lens of my crystal ball. All of my primary customers have had me dial back my services to them. These are interesting times we live in -- eh? By the way, I've cast my ballot. Based on today's polls and the bevy of prominent Republicans lining up to support Obama, time will reveal whether or not it was a good vote -- or if we've all been hoodwinked once again....

Well, we still have to see if MY prediction comes true. Remember I said Bush would attack Iran after the election but before he leaves office in January. But truthfully, I no longer think he'll do it.
