I don't think so. Inside his own party, he's getting lots of kudos from the base. Whether it will translate to support from the larger public remains to be seen. She won't draw any of Hillary's supporters, since she supports nothing that Hillary stands for. It's if McCain put Clarence Thomas on the ticket thinking he could draw black votes. Ain't gonna happen! Even most "pro-lifers" believe women have the right to abortion in cases of rape or incest, but not Sarah.

"Even most "pro-lifers" believe women have the right to abortion in cases of rape or incest, but not Sarah. "
I think that's just sickening. Women have come too far to let some fundy come along and kick over our sandcastles.
Taking us all back to the dark ages where desparate women would kill themselves, trying to abort in a back alley with a coat hanger.
Sarah is obviously an idiot.

I'm hearing so much right now about things coming out about her background, I think it's at least a remote possibility that she may be asked to withdraw from the ticket at some point. That would require the Republican National Committee to have to name another VP candidate absent a convention. It happened before in 1972 when Eagleton had to withdraw as McGovern's VP candidate. He was replaced by Segeant Shriver, but McGovern lost to Nixon overwhelmingly.
I don't think it will happen, but it does keep things interesting.

Chica,
I think you're talking about her connections to the AIP, or the "Alaskan Independence Party." Here's an interesting posting from Thom Hartman:
Where’s the News?
As I could have predicted, the corporate mainstream media is falling all over themselves to congratulate Sarah Palin on her speech. The well known truth is that Palin's speech has galvanized the conservative base. The media is not and most likely will not ask the tough questions like… --Why does Sarah Palin continue to lie unchallenged by the media about her support of the “Bridge to Nowhere?” --Why did Wasilla rarely received few any earmarks before Palin became mayor? She actively sought federal funds and hired a lobbyist with close ties to Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), who made funneling money to Alaska his hallmark. --Why did Sarah Palin not walk out of her church when just two weeks ago, she sat there while her pastor gave a anti-Jewish sermon? --While the McCain campaign has stressed her command of the National Guard – Why has Sarah Palin has never issued a single order to them? --How do the American people sit with Palin’s claims that American soldiers have been sent to Iraq "on a task that is from God?" --Why is Sarah Palin involved with AIP? Several days ago the chair of the AIP, a secessionist party, said that Palin attending the 1994 convention. “she was there.” The leader, a close friend of the Palins, was Joe Vogler, who at a rally Sarah was at in 1994, stated, "The fires of Hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American Government."
She is a long-standing member of "Assemblies of God," which is a Pentacostal Church.

Actually, the VP has very few official duties unless the Presdent assigns them. In the Constitution, the VP has to stand ready to assume the Presidency in the event of death or incapacitation of the President. The only other duty of the VP is to preside over the Senate and cast tie-breaking votes. Cheney has become very powerful only because of unofficial duties Bush has given him.
Other presidents have gone too far the other way. Truman was totally locked out of any briefings, even though Roosevelt knew he was dying. Even in the very beginning Washington barred John Adams from cabinet and policy meetings.

Quoting Rico here: "Well, she claims to stand up for developmentally disabled children, yet slashed funding for it by something around 70%. After all...her developmentally disabled child needs no state assistance, so why should anyone else's? As a Republican, she probably feels churches and charities can handle it just fine. She is pro-life, pro-adaption, yet cut funding for Covenant House, and other homes for pregnant teenage girls. She actually backed the "Bridge to Nowhere," defending Ted Stevens, before she was against it. And, she's has been involved in the Alaskan Independence movement, and her motto is not "America First," but "Alaska First." Her late pastor, Joe Vogler, openly claimed to hate America and would have made Jeremiah Wright look like a staunch patriot. She attends a church that promotes "speaking in tongues," very Pentecostal, and is anti-science. She promotes "abstinence only" sex education, creation "science," and believes the world is 6,000 years old. She even advocates the teaching of it in to school children, which I've always considered tantamount and equal to child molestation." Rico, please write it all down in a FAQ style, put it all together and keep modding it with updates! People need a nice clear succinct document about her. ><Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

Well, the Wilson sisters of "Heart," are telling her to stop using their song, "Barracuda" as her theme.
In any case, the song was supposed to be about an agent that ripped them off. One interesting line goes, "If the real thing don't do the trick, you'd better make up something quick."

You guys sound a little worried? If she's all that and a bag of chips you should be dancing in the street! Oh, btw have you seen the latest polls from the weekend? Hmmm...
Why even your Oprah is afraid to have her on the show! Too much woman for the old gal? Hmmmm.....
However, lets see how she holds up for the Charles Gibson interview.....
Face it Rick, she's going no where. Anything Else is just wishful thinking! Yep!

I'm sure you're right about her going nowhere, unless something very big comes up. She's got the "base" so fired up right now, there'd be open rebellion if she was dropped.
Oddly, the one allegation I thought was absurd is starting to look remotely credible. That is, her Down's Syndrome baby may actually be her daughter's. If it were confirmed, I doubt it would cause her to drop out. It might actually get her a lot of sympathy if it were handled right.
Here's what's in question for me: She knows she's having a Down's Syndrome Baby, she's visiting the "lower 48," and her water breaks. Then, rather than immediately go to a local hospital, she boards a plane for Alaska just so her baby can be Alaskan born. I'm told that this can be especially risky for the survival of Down's babies.
For the wymynz here: Would you board a plane if you were going into labor for a 5-hour flight? Naomi, I know you wouldn't board a plane in any case, but you know what I mean! Knowing there could be complications, wouldn't you get right to a hospital in the area you were visiting?
There is one reason you might do it: That is, if you were faking a pregnancy to cover for your daughter, and you were told your daughter was in labor in Alaska, you'd have to fly there to be present where the baby was being born.

Again Rick, why the tabloid conversations when more important issues are at hand? Here are the latest polls of "Likely Voters" not supporters like Naomi who can't vote or will not likely show up to vote on election day....All three are McCain/Palin leads
Zogby - 49.7% to 45.9% (I call this a dead heat) Gallup - 48% to 45% (probably the same), but... USA Today - 54% to 44%
Btw, just so you know I don't put any credence to the Obama faux pas regarding his faith. That was just a slip IMO...unless you guys found something in reverse? Hehe

"For the wymynz here: Would you board a plane if you were going into labor for a 5-hour flight?"
Not only no, but hell no................
"Naomi, I know you wouldn't board a plane in any case, but you know what I mean! "
Yeppers. I will never fly again. When I was a teen, my foster dad took me flying every saturday in his cesna, two seater and he used to fly with me and do tricks in the air like you wouldn't believe. We would dive at the ocean and pull up riiiiiiiiiiiiiight before we crashed....then go zooming really high and fly down in a loop and go upside down...and I would look at him with a big grin and motion for him to do it again. I was insane. LOL Now you wouldn't catch me getting on a flight for any reason, at any time, unless it was an emergency and the president required my immediate assistance or something. :-)
"Knowing there could be complications, wouldn't you get right to a hospital in the area you were visiting?"
Absolutely.

Jebus Christ! That little Palin tard child should have been aborted and or destroyed at birth, having and keeping any such monster should be stopped and I don't care who! For the Wyman's here and anywhere! With forced over population and the ruling classes forcing illegal immigration of the unwanted poor Inka on us, there isn't any more food to feed the worlds starving, who wouldn't be here to starve if they hadn't been born, so that proves it's all the BS! What the fuck is this, you're anti airplane but pro healthy mongoloid babies? What the world needs more than anything else now if forced sterilization! But don't listen to me, there's only going to be 10 billion starving mutherfuckers singing motherhood and angel-puppie songs together by 2060! Yeah cdh, you pretty much summed it up. Most of America is fed up with "politics" but it's like a car wreck. You don't want to watch but you can't turn away.
I'm probably gonna get jumped on by this bunch but I want to share a view point of mine. I look at politics, on all levels, as part of my business plan and I vote according to how certain politicians are going to effect my bottom line.
Most Americans tend to elevate politicians to standards that are very difficult to live up to. The reality is that they (male and female) are little more than high profile strippers!
They will dance for you in private, they will dance for you in public, but they will only get naked for the big money! And why not!
Here's how I look at politics, to continue with the sexual innuendo. You've got your "five dollars for a blow job" whores and you've got your "shiny roast beef and chicken for fifty thousand dollars per plate" whores.
Politics is a dirty business (emphasis on business) and there ain't any amount of lipstick that can make that pig look better. All I'm saying is step back and look at these people, see the warts. Stop looking for superheros to save the world. Figure out which whore you want and embrace him/her. Otherwise you will go mad.

You know DL, you just about summed it up in plain language. I look at government and unions with the same disdain, necessary evil.

David is right, or should be right. Most people do vote for their financial self-interests. The problem has been that Karl Rove, allied with "whores" like James Dobson, have figured out a way to get lower-income folks to actually vote against their financial self-interests through their "focus on the family" emphasis. Suddenly, the outsoursing of jobs becomes insignificant when compared to abortion and gay marriage.
