Whatever you are doing right now, stop immediately and get yourself a copy of "Across the Universe." You should get it in Blu-Ray if you have the capability.
I just finished watching it, and there are tears rolling down my face as I type this.

While just having watched a Mickey-X (R.I.P. ) recommended movie "Natural Born Killers", this movie looks a little "Willy Wonka" corny or something Rico. What was it that moved you into such depth of emotions about it? www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/acrosstheuniverse/><Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

Well, I guess I get a little sappy at seeing all the songs I loved in my youth strung together into such a cute little story. And given the production, it's easy to see that most of them were really GOOD songs! Can't we turn back the clock, bring back John and George, and get those boys out on the road again? And, while we're at it, let's bring back Jerry Garcia.
And, yes...let's brink back Mickey X!

I did sneak a peak at his email on the main board, and emailed him. No answer back yet, and that was approaching a week ago, now.
I do know what happened to him, and having been there myself, my heart really goes out to him. I do not know if his situation has changed, or why he has not returned as of yet. I don't want to think that he will never come back.
That would suck.

Hey Rick. I watched the movie yesterday, It's been sitting in my house for months now and I've had a number of people tell me I should see it. So, after you wrote this I said what the heck and here are my thoughts....
1. I thought that whomever wrote the screenplay did a brilliant job building a plot around the Beatles' lyrics.
2. Thought they over did it a little with the whole Vietnam protest and Sargent Pepper drug scenes.
3. Was the lady singer (Sadie?) who they roomed with supposed to be Janice Joplin? And was the black guitar player supposed to be Jimmy Hendricks? Was Jude supposed to be Peter Maxx?
4. Joe Cocker and Bono were both brilliant in their cameo appearances.
All in all I thought it was a cute movie but kept wondering if it might not have been better as a staged production. It is a good way to reacquaint everyone with the Beatles music though.
Thumbs up!

Well, Sadie definitely reminded me of Joplin. I'm not sure who Peter Maxx is, so I'll have to google that one and get back to you. The black guitarist did remind me of Jimi Hendrix in a way, but not in his guitar style since he was far more subdued and bluesy. Hendrix was going hard blues before he died, but it's not what he's generally known for.
With the name "Sadie," I kept expecting the song "Sexy Sadie" to come up. I'll bet it did, and they left it on the cutting room floor.
Naomi...if you know what happened to Mikey, then at least there's some hope, since I guess you can at least confirm he's alive out there somewhere. I had thought he'd maybe been in a car accident or something like that and been killed.
