Absolute good has triumphed over an almost unspeakable evil. The country and the world has been saved.
Because Jebus has triumphed over Satan, I have it on very good authority that Armageddon has been postponed for at least 1,000 years.

Well, actually, until 2010. We did not get the 60 Senate Seats and going by the current trend it should end up at 56, but maybe 57 since they're still counting in Oregon. We'll see what the Congressional races look like in 2010, but the one gain I can possibly see in the Senate then would be in PA, where Arlen Specter is retiring and Chris Matthews plans to run as a Democrat.
I know you're joking about Jeb. He was popular, but the publicn won't stomach another Bush. I'd put my money on Romney for the Republican 2012 nomination. Palin will make a play but I don't think she'll gain traction. Romney is young and good looking and his positions will play well with conservatives.

Hehe
My reference was regarding the 2012 end of the world scenario. You know the end of the Myan calendar, etc....
Mitt was my man actually not McCain. I don't give a rats ass about him being mormon. I think he also got a bad rap because Limbaugh and Beck were so hot for him in the beginning it rubbed off. One day these people are going to learn that they are doing more harm than good.
I don't think anyone could have beaten Romney (pres) and McCain (VP) ticket because I believe the economy followed by the war were the main issues, but maybe sometimes things happen for a reason. Palin was delightful but she's gonna be a flash in the pan. We have two years to re-define the conservative party.
Now regarding JEB, I have campaigned for him in the past and he does a great job of separating himself from daddy and GW. He is absolutely more like his mom than those two and way smarter. Four years may be too soon, I agree but in eight years anything can happen. I don't think he will stay out of politics for much longer. maybe a run for the house/senate in 2010.
We seem to have a lot of open seats that went bye bye last nite! ;D

If Jeb were to run for the Senate in 2010, he'd have to challenge Mel Martinez in the primaries, and I don't think he'd do that. Bill Nelson won't be up until 2012. He could win in Florida, but not nationally.
I don't think there are any true conservatives. Barry Goldwater was one, but Reagan got the whole movement mixed in with the religious nuts and I think people are fed up with that. Goldwater was totally conservative, in that he wanted government out of people's personal lives. He was pro-choice and even paid for his own daughter to fly to Sweden for an abortion in 1962. Had it become public, he'd never have gotten the Republican nomination. He also would have allowed gays to serve openly in the military. Very few neo-cons know that about him.
He was tied to racists because of his more libertarian views. He was actually an equal-opportunity guy in hiring for his own Goldwater stores, but believed in total laissez-faire, which I would oppose, although I admired him. I worked my ass off for him in 1964 when I was 16, but I'll admit it was for selfish reasons. I figured he'd go in full-tilt boogie in Vietnam and get it over with before I became draft age.

Funny what motivates us politically, eh? Nixon got us out of Nam right before I became eligible for the draft so I dodged that bullet. Funny, my father who was hardcore career and did two stints there was looking into everything he could do to keep me from having to go there myself so I can understand what you guys went through.
Obama will go down in history as the greatest campaigner ever. Did you notice in his acceptance speech the other nite that he was already campaigning? This is paraphrased but he said something like...."We are going to fix this country. It will take some time. It might take longer than four years, it might even take longer than one term" hehe
We shall see.......

David, it's funny that no one has mentioned that line you quoted: ...."We are going to fix this country. It will take some time. It might take longer than four years, it might even take longer than one term." That's the part you quoted, but he finished the sentence with, "But I promise you that we as a people will get there together." Because I instantly recognized that line as a paraphrase from the speech Martin Luther King gave the night before he was killed.
I'm not going to look up the exact quote, but what he said in essense was "I've been to the top of the mountain and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I promise you that we as a people will get there together." And, of course, King was referring to Moses, who stands at the top of the hill and is allowed to view the promised land but is not allowed to cross over the Jordan River before he dies. So, I do hope that Barack does not sense that he might not survive.

Well I'm willing to give the man the benefit and see what he's got. See if there is substance behind the rhetoric. What I'm going to be watching closely though is how he handles the likes of Pelosi, Reid and the established liberal elite. I believe they think they are going to be able to push him around and I don't see that happening....what do you think?

Making sure all those black kids have daddy's would be a good start and of course there is no example to follow.. Reading and writing skills is also a plus. How come a black guy is gonna fix all my problems while his race needs a new set of values and a real value fix.
On the other hand when McCain declared he was not going to hold Wall Streets feet to the fire I new all was lost.

The only time I can recall that Obama had something to say about black kids having no father, his remarks were almost a carbon-copy of what Bill Cosby has been saying for years, so you'd approve. In fact, you might remember it caused a rift with Jesse Jackson, who said Obama was "dissing niggaz." Even Jesse Jackson Jr., who is a Congressman, denounced his father for that.
