As you know, I'm following this one very closely. It looks like what will seal it for Al is if they decide to allow the counting of a few thousand absentee ballots that have been discarded. There are also a lot of mis-marked ballots that the machines didn't count that can be included if the intent of the voter can be determined. Many thousands of voters for Obama failed to register a vote for the Senate and there ought to be enough for Al to take the lead.
Begich was finally declared the winner in Alaska. We only need Al Franken and Jim Martin in Georgia to hit the magic 60 now that we know that Lieberman is staying with the Democratic caucus.
Al Franken has been a thorn in the side of Republicans for years, first with his books and then with his brilliant radio show. I used to listen every day, and I loved his dry zen-like humor.
If Martin wins in Georgia, which is a long shot, Franken's victory (If he wins) won't be official until just before Christmas. This means he would be ushered in at the 60th Democrat, and would be the ultimate slap in the face to the Republican Neo-Cons and the right-wing talk show hosts. O'Reilly would really go knutz!

Coleman's lead has now shrunk to 130 with lots of questioned ballots left to count. You can check the progress on the front page of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and it's updated almost moment by moment: www.startribune.com/

The Coleman campaign is screaming bloody murder about this video. The election board will rule on absentee ballots tomorrow. It's going to end up in the courts, and it could be months before we know who won this election.

Rico Excellent, but I'd like to see a video about exactly how this problem occurred in the first place. I still can't fathom how anyone could ever be allowed to disregard anyone's vote so cavalierly, noone should have to ask that their vote be counted under any circumstance at all! >< Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

OK...here's today's good news. Now that they're screening challenged ballots, Al Franken is, at this minute, in the lead by 222 votes. It changes by the minute, so click on www.startribune.com/

It looks as though Al will be declared the winner by the Election Board tomorrow. I thought the Secretary of State in most states places the final stamp of approval on a certified result -- but not so in Minnesota. They have a unique system because Governor Pawlenti (a Republican) signs-off on the final certification and he won't do so unless either all legal matters have been resolved or Coleman concedes.
There is a slight possibility Coleman might concede if the Supreme Court rules against one of his legal battles early in the week. Coleman could do himself irreparable harm in the political arena if he doesn't make a graceful exit when it is obvious nothing is going to change the outcome of the counted ballots.
