K... but does any of you do any bean or alfalfa germinating spouting outside of a Chiapet, for food preparation at all? I have done some over the years with mixed results but mostly positive, and recently have wanted to get more serious about it with better equipment than just using mason jars and those grated plastic, green, yellow and red lid covers for it. What are the tricks and the best ways? Non? ><Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

I have a standard sprouter, and I usually sprout alfalfa sprouts...sometimes bean. They work really good....you have to remember to rince them at least 3 times a day in cool water and make sure you have proper drainage. Keep them in as dark a place as possible, then when you want the greens ontop and they are done sprouting, put them infront of a sunny window and the tops will grow all green.

SOW Wow! Oh yeah, I came this/close to buying that same kit too! How do you like trays like that over jars etc? And how are you using them in cooking the most now? ><Tomasina ChicaWolverina!

chica- The trays are wonderful. and they have a lifetime guarantee. you just soak the seeds overnight. then spread them out in the trays. each tray has a lid and they are completely enclosed, they stack on top of each other. then a couple times a day you just rinse them and each dish has holes to drain the water. In 3-5 days you got serious sprouts. then bag then and refrigerate them. just rinse them every other day and you have them for a week to 2 weeks. I eat them raw for the nutrition. or you can puree them and drink the juice or cook with stir fry. i like the trays much better than the jars. one lb of sprouts costs about 50cents and the broccoli sprouts though expensive has about 100 times by weight of the cancer fighting components. I have bought 2 basic sprouting sets for my friends for xmas also. a really good investment. pure nutrition chica. this IS survival food.
