He seemed a little pushy. Seemed like he was asking a very difficult question to answer a yes or no...
But that doesn't excuse his way of bullying.

Yeah, I guess it just like I'm feeling noone is answering any questions that "every-man" out there is worrying about and when you get mealy-mouthed answers about these things it's a good excuse to vent like he did. God, it's just like trying to ask a simple question from a panel of highly qualified experts about anything and you get nowhere fast. Remember the hearings after the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up or the 9-11 hearings? The "every-man" persons are still all left wondering around in woods with many, many questions. Who do the cops "protect and serve" really? And not so funny coming from a Republican who's ideology made this mess so acute and is still letting us get raped by all of our insurance companies. www.bartleby.com/61/95/M0179500.htmlK... sry! ><Tomasina Chicawolverina!

I'm on board with you here, Chica. State Farm just took their ball and went home and left the state of Florida. I had all my policies with them but my opinion on that? "Don't let the door knob hit you in the ass on the way out!"

That's a really brave line of questioning coming from a Republican who's obviously bucking the laissez-faire "free market" party line. I fully support what he's trying to do. Obama said much the same thing the other day, and if Manzullo isn't quite as polished in his tone, we need people willing to get down and dirty. There's nothing wrong with foridding bonues to execs of companies that are accepting gubmint money.
I'd go farther, in that I'd like to restrict bonuses only to execs of profitable companies, with all profits having been attained without the loss of any American jobs, but some would call that socialism.
David, you brought up the Florida Insurance problem, and I may be the only one here who shares your understanding.
What I heard was that the insurance companies made sweetheart deals with Florida Legislators of both parties. The State Farm that pulled out of Florida, or the others who have jacked up premiums so high that many have been forced to sell or abandon their homes, is not the same State Farm that is the National Corporation, at least technically speaking. The insurers were allowed to set up seperate corporations within Florida.
Many in Florida argue that the corps should be national, so that the risk can be spread nationwide. That would prevent the Florida Insurance Crisis. Folks in other parts of the country might have a slight insurace increase during bad years, and would probably resent paying for Florida Hurricanes, but we all pay for risks in other areas with hazards specific to their locale.
I guess you would have to have a special premium for people who insist on living right on the beach and on barrier islands, especially along the Gulf Coast, but there are people with mortgages free and clear who have elected to simply drop their insurance and take their own chances.
