Cooking For Engineers, but it's just more interesting because it explains the reason for so many things everyone else takes for granted or just don't know themselves, and in a way that cuts through to the knittygritty of things. I was looking for chef knives because I need to buy one that's "real steel", not soft edged stainless steel that you can't sharpen well enough and can't use the rod on etc. I've been so inspired too by the movie Julie & Julia, that I just try some of that too!
